Bison and Poppies Linocut print
This is a two-block linocut, printed on tan cotton rag paper, using black and red oil-based printing inks. Two linoleum blocks were carved to create this print, one for the bison and one for the poppies. The art measures 8×10” inches and is printed on a 9×11” sheet of tan cotton rag paper (with a deckled edge).
The bison is a symbol of strength and resilience, surviving a near extinction in the 19th century. Today there are close to 500,000 bison in America, thanks to conservation groups, including Native American led ones. The bison remains a strong cultural symbol for Native tribes across America, who relied on them for survival and celebrated them in spiritual ceremonies.
Each print is signed and numbered; this is a limited-edition series of 50 prints. Each print is individually hand printed, this means there may be slight tonal changes between prints, adding to the unique handmade quality of the print.
Print comes packaged with a backing board (made from recycled materials) and a cellophane sleeve.
